Gigi Ghanim

Bala Cynwyd, PA

Gigi Ghanim is Chief of Staff at data.org, an international nonprofit that accelerates the use of data and AI to address global social challenges. With a background spanning nonprofit leadership, strategic planning, and organizational operations, she has spent her career helping mission-driven organizations work more effectively.

Gigi brings both professional and personal perspective to the PSORC Patient Advocacy Board. She is the mother of an 11-year-old neuroblastoma survivor who was diagnosed as an infant and underwent tumor resection in her first months of life. Rooted in that experience and her broader involvement in pediatric cancer advocacy - including serving as a patient advocate on the grant selection committee for Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation - she is committed to ensuring that surgical oncology research reflects what matters most to families. She is especially interested in exploring how data and AI can help PSORC translate its multi-institutional network into insights that improve outcomes for pediatric patients.

Logan Mansfield

Chicago, IL

I am a survivor of Stage 4S Neuroblastoma, diagnosed at just two days old. Since my initial tumor resection in infancy, I have undergone seven additional surgeries due to recurring complications stemming from my early diagnosis. Most recently, in the fall of 2024, I was hospitalized for an extended period and required emergent surgery due to a significant abdominal adhesion burden.

These experiences have profoundly shaped both my identity and my aspirations. Growing up as a pediatric cancer survivor has given me a deep appreciation for the resilience of patients and the critical role of surgical and oncologic care. My journey has motivated me to become more actively involved in the childhood cancer community and to pursue a future in surgical oncology.

Currently, I am an undergraduate researcher in the MacQuarrie Laboratory at Lurie Children's Hospital, where I study mechanisms of chemoresistance in Rhabdomyosarcoma. Through this work, I aim to contribute to improving therapeutic outcomes for pediatric patients facing aggressive malignancies.

Janet Panoch

Greencastle, IN

I have a PhD in Health Communication and my research interests are in pediatric cancer survivorship issues, specifically bone cancer, and developing tools with patients and providers for shared decision-making goals. I have both personal and professional expertise as a patient advocate. I have served as the chair of patient advocacy committees and I was a surrogate decision maker for my daughter who had bone cancer and is now an above knee amputee.  I am the principal investigator in the development of a patient decision aid for surgery of malignant tumors in the lower extremity. The development of this decision aid has been presented at local, national, and international conferences and is funded by the Osteosarcoma Collaborative. I organize and facilitate a team of multidisciplinary experts in surgery, oncology, rehabilitation, decision science, and the community patient population to guide development and testing through dissemination and implementation. I am currently developing a set of discussion cards to be used to communicate surgical options at diagnosis. Patients, parents, and orthopedic oncologists have been involved in all phases of these tools using a multi-phase co-design developmental model. In 2026, I released the Rotationplasty Patient-Powered Registry.
